It was exactly like a larger one I had years ago. I have only been using it at home so I can season it better. (The more you use, the better it seasons.) I bought the 7" size so it would be big enough for two, yet small enough for one. I will put it with my camping gear. There are lighter pans for backpacking but this one is not very heavy and I really like these pans. It reminds me of when I was young. (Am 71 yrs young now) I have used sand and grass as a scrubber on these types of pans in the past & know it works well. Very easy to care for and very durable. They are also healthy to use because you get trace amounts of iron from using them. (A mineral much needed because of not getting this trace element in modern cooking.)

The glue from the label does not come off even following the video advice. I eventually had to take a fine steel wool and scrub to get it off. After that seasoning and use is a breeze. Pretty much you treat it like cast iron when it comes to cleaning. The one thing to keep in mind when you order this is it is 7" across the top as all pans are measured. It could also stand to be a bit deeper but for the money it is not an issue.

I love to cook with cast iron. But the idea of carrying a small cast iron skillet around to fry eggs and bacon in just wasn't worth the added weight. Enter the Jacob Bromwell steel 7" skillet. It looks cool, particularly when seasoned, and cooks great at less than half the weight of a cast iron skillet. If you know your way around cast iron this will be no trouble for you.

This steel is thin for even heating but it makes up for any flaws because it is so lightweight and easy to clean once it is seasoned like iron pans. Don't use high heat or you may warp it. It works great on medium heat anyway.

Arrived on time and in good condition.Cured the pan as per instructions and it is indeed non stick.Ive seen these in flea markets in years and never realized how old they might be since the company goes back to 1819.Seldom do you see one tho without a warped bottom. You cant put these on high heat and walk away.As long as as you watch your cooking you will be just fine. Im using mine everyday and love it.Just wish they still made the larger sizes.
