Since this music was recorded without any rehearsal or prior arrangements between the two artists, the net effect is pure joy which can be heard in the title track "Meeting By The River". The tabla playing by Sukhvinder Singh Namdhari puts all these tracks into something memorable. Ry Cooder on Bottleneck guitar still has the magic and V. M. Bhatt plays the Mohan Vina with such passion. With so much new music available from various old and new artists it is refreshing to hear Ry Cooder still has the magic.
Ry Cooder is a brilliant musician who's light years away from most artists. He explores new realms with every new realease, and will never allow himself to be placed in any one box."The Meeting by the River" is appropriately named as it flows from the beginning to the end. You will listen to it time and time again and will make a new discovery with each playing. Maybe you won't Bop Till You Drop, but instead will lie on your back in the cool river and let the currents take you to wherever it goes. It goes to a good place. Just try it....it's definitely worth the ride. Mark Harbinson Taylorsville, NC grouchoparx1948@aol.com

Ry Cooder is well known in this country but Vishwa is still relatively unknown. The meeting of these two masters is purely explosive, a totally unexpected meeting of very different minds reaching for something new. Absolutely stunning.
