Simple installation, one less thing to worry about
Installing the breaker-less ignition was simple and straightforward. While replacing points and condenser with this solid-state solution didn't result in a noticeable improvement in performance, it is one less maintenance item to worry about. The unit is well built, simple, and installation is clearly documented.
This unit was installed in an Allis-Chalmers WD-45 engine with a Delco-Remy distributor, mounted on an SP-100 Combine Harvester. The center hole in the dust cap on the WD-45 distributor doesn't need to be widened to clear the rotor, as it did for the PerTronix ignition I installed in a Continental F-140 engine, also with a Delco-Remy distributor, that I have on a Massey-Harris 35 Combine. I only figured that out after pre-emptively drilling out the dust cap. Pays to check before modifying old engine parts.
