Is the Canon PIXMA™ Pro9000InkJet Photo Printer 4U
As its full name states this is a Photo Printer. Its fully capable of being used for common data printing tasks using plain paper, but its real strength is in printing large format (13 X 19) photo quality on a variety of media. The size and weight of this printer make it the 800 pound gorilla in the room. A full set of cartridges locally run $113 or about $14.25 each because there are 8 individual cartridges. This is one of the printers strong points. Each cartridge is separate and the print head is separate and user replacable. This model uses dye based inks and is best for color photo printing. It is capable of doing a very good reproduction of black and white photos but if you really want the best in B&W this printers sister the Pro 9500 adds two more cartridges for a total of 10 using pigment based inks.
If you are a serious amateur photographer and want to print at home the cost of the printer, approx $250-$300 used plus shipping, ink and eventual print head replacement, and remembering that quality photo paper isn't cheap will not matter as the quality of output is amazing. Imaging Resource has an excellant full review of this printer. You will need to use the printer at least weekly to keep the print head from clogging with dried ink.
I bought my printer because I'm somewhat of a tech junkie and I enjoy a bit of digital photo shooting. If your camera is PictBridge capable you can plug directly into the printer and print although all features may not be available. I'm well pleased with the printer. Canon's web site offers all needed software and manuals as well as a full specs and accessories.

Reichert microstar 1820
If you are looking for an inverted microscope at a modest price the 1820 is a good choice. These are older simpler scopes but well made. Be sure to inspect carefully because of age. Work well for a serious amateur or a classroom setting.

Keeping your ONE CONNECT box and yourself cool.
The One Connect box is a great idea if you wall mount your TV. We don't! So now where do you put this brick and how do you protect the flimsy "invisible cable" Samsung failed to provide adequate cooling only passive no fans thus boxes overheat and fail a flaw which Samsung ignores. Our set went black after only 9 months. Samsung was happy to send a repair tech when I would be paying the bill but when I proved it would be under warranty they failed to respond. I bought this replacement because it was new and included the flimsy cable, guessing that was the problem with my PREMIUM set. IT WAS! Now I have the box raised on a shelf with two two half round pieces of ABS pipe (split a 3" lengthwise) and added a cooling fan to draw air away from box. Using a temperature measure I typically see less than 100 degree F. Others have reported over 140 deg F. Don't want to go through all this, avoid the One Connect box unless you really think the skinny cable is worth it and you take extra cooling precautions. OH! If you have to buy a replacement be sure to only buy new as used boxes could already be ready to fail.
