L'Amour

The first in Nokia's L'Amour Collection to be released, the Nokia 7360 is a beautifully crafted device, made from a combination of leather-inspired materials, etched metal, and transparent surfaces. It's not about what it does, it's how it looks and feels that matters here. Apart from the look, there's nothing special here. The 7360 does enough to be acceptable for the money that you pay, but nothing more. It has an ordinary VGA resolution camera (0.3 mega pixels) with a rather poor video camera. The display is below average for this type of phone. Ringtones are of average quality, although the phone does support MP3 ringtones. There's a stereo FM radio, which is definitely a plus, and an integrated handsfree speaker. The small memory of the 7360 is one of the biggest disappointments. At just 4 Mbytes, there really isn't enough to hold more than a couple of short video clips or a few dozen photos. A single MP3 ringtone will probably fill all the available memory. This tends to make the phone's functions more of a gimmick than anything else. Still, as we already mentioned, buyers of the L'Amour Collection are probably not motivated primarily by tech specs, and the 7360 is a good-enough mid-priced phone with a very special design, and if the looks appeal, then it's probably worth buying.

The curve

Pros: - Unbelievable display. It's crystal clear. Equipped with light sensor to adjust screen brightness as needed. - Thin and light weight. - Very customizable. - Battery life is great. - Great media player. - Blackberry one push button e-mail is fantastic. - Good reception. - Great call clarity. - Nice camera. - Trackball actually works out great. - Edge is decent. - Stereo Bluetooth - Expandable MicroSD - Countless options. Cons: - Alert volume can't be fine tuned. It has 4 settings. Mute, Low, Medium, High, Escalating. And frankly I find the Low setting a bit loud. - No GPS or WiFi. But you can equip it with GPS with a $100 accessory. And WiFi isn't that important to me. - AT&T doesn't offer insurance for their smart phones. That is a bummer. But you can't count that against RIM. All in all, it really is fantastic. The unreleased as of yet Blackberry 8820 will solve the WiFi and GPS problem if you want to wait. But who knows at what price that will hit the market. I definitely recommend the leather case for the Curve. It saves battery life by making the phone sleep when it is in the case and wakes when you remove it from the case. This phone is a definite purchase.

PROS: -battery life is very excellent!! -large inner and outer LCD screen -Tons of customizable settings!! -Ready Link walkie talkie -camera w/flash! -camcorder that can record up to 30 seconds! -you can have a certain sceensaver on the outside LCD screen and another different Screensaver on the inner LCD!!! -CLEAR ringtones that sound like real mp3s -Loud speaker for talking (you can actually close your phone shut while on speaker and you wont hang up the call or play ringtones while the phone is closed!!!!!!!!) -interchangable faceplates(you can snap a different faceplate easily) -FAST web surfing and downloading -ringer and picture ID -NEVER lose signal!!! -voice dialing w/out training -durable phone with rubberlike grip on the sides and around the camera lens -Streaming video!!!!!!!!!! CONS: -pretty bulky and little heavy -only 65k LCD screen -speaker not loud enough for ringtones -no mp3 player -no memory card -not enough memory for videos,pics,ringtones, and games :( -flash is useless for taking pics at night(i realized that the phone flashes earlier than when the lens snap a picture) -No bluetooth
