David Hicks - Impressive in any era...
Amazing documentary of another time, another place. David Hicks was an aristocratic man who did some iconic interior design at an interesting moment in history, blending historic with modern, and creating spaces that transport. The before and after shots are great, as are the rooms which clearly influenced film production design of the 1970s as in evidence in the Kubrick films among others.
For all the embarrassing riches to which he was born and lived, and which Mr. Hick's oft references, he remains a likable and interesting man. I was very sorry to see so little video of him available. But the last video of him showing his landscape design toward the end of his life is truly fabulous...
