Hilarious off-beat comedy
Very unusual, but very absorbing storyline, combined with a sharp script have made this a minor classic movie. John Cusack (Martin) and Dan Ackroyd (The Grocer)are simply excellent, with a super performance by Minnie Driver as Debi, the local radio DJ. There are some hilarious scenes involving Marcella (Joan Cusack) as Martin's secretary - running the office of a professional hitman as if it's just an import/export business! There are many rewarding detail moments - one of which where Martin, as an afterthought, runs back into the convenience store to rescue the teenage assistant before the building explodes. Another where Marcella, in a very angry mood on the phone, quickly switches between 2 conversations from an order for some ammunition to clarifying a soup recipe for (supposedly) one of her family. Not to be missed!
