Minolta MC Rokkor-X PF 1:1.7 f=50mm Lens 4179070

A good lens
Ebay's rating system is not apropriate for used equipment. So, this lens like all Minolta Rokkors is sharp, well built and easy to handle when adapted to mirrorless bodies. I cant judge value because this is an auction site.

Good enough for the kids to use.
I primarily purchased this camera for my son to use. The lens quality is average which negates the 12MP rating, but it's fine for a kids camera. Ed glass would have improved the image quality of this camera greatly. The zoom range is decent, but the macro mode is useless as it refuses to focus on center frame. The shutter is responsive, but you must set the camera on single center frame focus to keep the focus point from wandering. Flash coverage is impressive and lights evenly. The camera is very small so if you have large hands, it is hard to avoid camera shake. The Vibration Reduction System is below average, but like I said, it's ok for the kids. Video is full frame but does not produce 30 fps as advertised; it is a bit choppy. The enclosed software is useless and the instructions are on a pdf file. They do include a quick start guide which is useless as a reference. If you are looking for a pocketsize camera for the kids or to use at parties, beach etc. then this camera will be fine. However, I would not suggest it for landscapes, tourism or macro work.

Disappointing!
The Sigma SD14 that I tested had difficulty focusing, slow response and bad onboard flash coverage. I also noticed gamma errors. These cameras, in my opinion, are only suitable for studio work or in a controlled environment.
