Road Warrior's budget delight
Very good design with very good featyures. External lightscribe DVD burner is a very welcome feature. HDMI out with discrete graphics card gives you superior graphics performance over integrated graphics. Screen is better than the typical laptop and has much better than normal off axis readability. Performance in playback of movies is good considering this isn't a $1000+ laptop. You can easily do 720p on a tv.
Down side , HP puts a lot of kludge in the factory OS install that needs to be removed. The excess items running in systray slow the cpu down considerably especially since it is a single core. Removal of excess software improves performance significantly as does the installation of 4gb of memory. This is a little expensive since there is only pone DDR2 slot. Operating system is Vista Home premium 64 bit with a free upgrade to W7 64bit Home Premium.
HP has a$50 rebate for qualifying purchases from nonexcluded sellers like Amazon Best buy Newegg etc. If it is NIB here it should qualify. Upgrade the memory and get rid of the HP kludge and you have an excellent notebook for the road warrior or a nice home entertainment computer.
By the way this was awarded last year's best notebook at CES. The quality shows. But it isn't perfect.

A little hacking and even the NSA has a hard time decrypting. The FBI busted someone for selling these blacked out to some drug runners.
