Not cheap, but a great lens for the size and money
I rented this lens Summer 2012 for an African Safari. It was the perfect lens, and definitely one I used often. I liked the lens so much, I just bought one. The two lenses I used most of the safari with my Canon T2i digital were my Canon 18-200mm lens and this one. The photos on the 100-400 were terrific. At the far focal length of 400 mm, the clarify did not seem as good, however. I liked the push-pull mechanism of this lens. It seems more intuitive than the turning mechanism for the newer lenses. This lens is not a light lens, but for it's focal length, it is a reasonable weight. I carried my lenses, filters and Canon T2i camera body in a Lowepro Slingshot 200 bag, which was a good bag for carrying this weight. The bag also allowed me to steady my elbows. I also have a Canon 70-300 and 75-300 bag that are ok and lighter than the 100-400, but don't compare in photo quality. Pictures are much sharper with the 100-400.

Overall excellent product, easy to use.
This is an excellent product. I'd borrowed one from a friend before deciding to purchase one. It is relatively easy to use IF you read the instructions. It's not very self-explanatory for entering the time, date and hooking up to bluetooth. I sync the data to my iphone and print out data into Excel.

So far a nice camera
1 of 1 found this helpful I upgraded from a T2i to this T6S (760D in Europe). Similar camera but many improved features. A bit harder to figure out but i haven't read the manual yet. I like the viewfinder, the locks to make sure the buttons or dials don't accidentally change, the ability to see settings on the top of the camera, which is important for night shots. It's a bit pricey, but hopefully worth it! buying the european version without the USA warranty saved me about $250 (($899 down to $650)
