Dvd dud

It showed it needed to be charged when I got it so looked it up on the web and it said to attach the battery and plug it in. So far we are going on a couple weeks it is still red light. Tried to Playa dvd, it turned on and shut off. Still looking at options but I will say I think it was a bad decision. Came reallyfast
