High seas adventure as a boy becomes a man in the British navy.
This series is high adventure on the early 1800's high seas. It delivers a feeling of what it was like in the king's navy of the time. Filmed on ships modeled after the ships of the time period it also gives an education on seamanship. The storyline begins with the teenage Horatio and continues through his marriage as a captain in the naval fleet. The romance of his of his life is the sea which makes the romance with his wife nearly nonexistent, but still warm enough to make him an expectant father by the end of the series. It is fictional set in history which has been reproduced with great attention to detail.

Deceptive, They are incomplete and NOT definitive.
1 of 1 found this helpful This product is incomplete. The hard bound version is 13 volumes. The first is the maps they composed and used on the trip. Volumes 2-8 record the journey to the Pacific and back through the journals of the captains and two sargeants. The last 5 volumes contain journals that have come to light since the original publication in the 1800's. This set only contains volumes 2-8.
I found this very disappointing.
