Same sangtai mechanism as a friends exensive clock
One daughter can't stand ticking, the other loved her clock, solution - install nonticking mechanism. This turned out to be the same sangtai movement as a friends clock that cost €70.

Far better than the turkey baster float type
No more latex rubber ball, glass tubes, tapping or squinting. This reliably produces repeatable measurements and is temperature compensated. Red paint dissolves leaving a yellow segment, this is a known and notified issue but is purely cosmetic. I don't know why they can't simply lacquer over it.

Cheap and Cheerful
Does the job just about. Leg has deep tooling scores on the tapers. Floor socket was off round so table is wobbly needs several good thumps to steady it. Would probably buy a rail and folding leg if I was going again. For the price didn't expect much more though.
