Great kit for the price.
1 of 1 found this helpful I used this since it was going to cost over $200 in parts to fix the heated seats in my ‘05 Subaru Legacy. It’s not compatible with the OEM wiring/controls but that’s fine. I don’t mind using aftermarket switches on this old car.
The kit itself seems to be very well made. The grid style elements are a better design than the OEM elements since they don’t have a single point of failure and have better heat distribution. They’re also trimmable which was necessary in my application.
The kit came with a single module that controls both seats. This is convenient from a wiring perspective but also makes installation challenging if you’re not putting both switches in the same place. The leads coming from the module are pretty short. Also the nighttime backlighting for the switches is blue. I would have preferred red but that’s just my preference.
As far as performance, they perform very well although they take a little while to get to full temp. On the highest setting they get almost uncomfortably warm. Dropping to the second or first setting after 10 minutes is nice and cozy.
One thing to note is that the kit didn’t come with any documentation or instructions. I didn’t need them since I’ve installed kits like this before. If it’s your first time you might need to search on YouTube for a walkthrough.
For $40 this is an incredible deal. I hope it lasts. I don’t expect to have any problems with the elements themselves but we’ll see if the electronics hold up.
