Looking to upgrade from the iPhone 4? Check out our iPhone 4S review and iPhone 5 preview.

Introduction
So, another year, another iPhone. The latest version of Apple's iconic touchscreen smartphone is now available and it brings with it a whole host of new and innovative features. Is it worthy successor to its forebears the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS and, more to the point, is it worth its high asking price or should you hold out for the next round of Android, Windows 7, Meego, or WebOS devices? Read on to find out.

iPhone 4 - Video Review

iPhone 4 - Design
Most striking about the iPhone 4 is its new design. While the front is classic iPhone with its single piece of glass, single button, and symmetrical black bezel, the back has moved away from the curves of old to be replaced by a completely flat sheet of aluminosilicate-toughened glass (what do you mean you haven't heard of it?!). Combined with the new flat stainless steel sides, this gives the phone a particularly industrial, minimalist look and feel that is sure to split opinion even more than existing iPhones have.

To our minds the concept is sound and we really like the exceptional fit and finish of the phone but certainly the front bezel does now look a bit tired. In particular this seems to be because the iPhone 4 is slightly narrower and taller, yet retains the same size screen, as previous models. This makes the screen look a bit lost in the vast blackness of that bezel. It's still a pretty stunning design overall but there's definitely a prototype/engineering sample feel that takes the edge off.

iPhone 4 back

By severely shrinking many of the internal components, Apple has managed to make the iPhone 4 noticeably slimmer than its forebears at just 9.3mm, and the company even touts it as the slimmest smartphone on the market. Normally we would be concerned about this as the slimmer devices get, the more difficult they tend to be to handle but thanks to its flat sides the iPhone 4 is actually pretty easy to get a good grip on. However, the pointy edges that result from all those flat surfaces make the phone feel, if not out and out uncomfortable, certainly less comfy than many rivals and even previous iPhones. Weight remains largely unchanged at 137g, 2g more than the iPhone 3GS.

iPhone 4 side

Another potential pitfall of having so much glass is its propensity to crack or shatter when knocked. However, while having glass on the front and back does double your chances of this happening, it only really matters if the screen breaks, and there's just as much change of that happening on any other smartphone.

Moreover, in our experience, unlike plastic, glass screens are essentially scratch proof in normal use so using glass on the back as well will hopefully mean the iPhone 4 will look flawless for years to come, no matter how rough you treat it. Certainly we know many people that have not b

Fairly great iPhone

Its pretty great, but it dies fairly fast. I wanted one for about a year, I wanted the white one. Im happy I got it. I thought it wasn't going to be that great. It turned out to be really nice. The screen has multiple deep scratches that drives me crazy. I dislike how hard it would be to change the battery and the screen. I want to replace it, but that will be difficult. I love the color also. The internet is faster on the iPhone than my old phone. I love getting on eBay with my iphone because everything works. Examples, with my old phone everytime I get on the front page of ebay it would be very slow as if it catches viruses or something, I never could see the front page. Also when I bid on things the pop-up windows would be right there on my iPhone, but my old phone it would run, even if I scrolled down to push "confirm" it would disappear and move further down. It took a while to catch it and confirm the bid. But I have my iPhone and I do all the bidding on it. The thing I dislike is only one speaker works. I just wish it was unlocked then I could use my sim card on it.Read full review...

Best phone I have ever owned... so far.

I bought this phone because I wanted something that would make my business trips run a lot smoother, it worked. I can check my e-mail anywhere I get a signal, with which AT&T is practically everywhere. I can always count on my phone to display particular office documents perfectly and even print with a wireless printer if they're linked.
Aside from the business I love using my phone to keep myself entertained and keep in touch with my friends and family. I really enjoy the camera and all of the photo editing apps as well, instagram is great for photos and social networking.
There are enough apps to keep the average person busy for hours at a time, which is great business the battery life is awesome (especially when you turn location services off).
I fully recommend this phone, unless you are thinking of getting a 4S or an iPhone 5.

The iphone 4 hands down has the best resolution display of any phone currently available on the market. Apart from this the ease of dealing with this device after opening the box is a definite plus. Also because of the popularity accessories and apps are readily available to download.

Pros-
1) Easily syncs with outlook mail and other mail services
2) Retina display is very smooth and sharp
3) Touch screen is highly responsive
4) Screen orientation can be locked and apart from this has also a gyro and accelerometer
5) Smooth internet browser. The Dual camera.

Suave and dignified. The most usable phone I've ever bought and tried.

This masterpiece from Apple is as elegant and usable as a phone can get. Not only does it diligently suffice the basic funtionality of a smart phone, it also shows off its power packed design and usability features. The Apple iPhone 4 white is truly a great phone with unmatched retina display screen with a resolution beyond the naked eye's comprehension. Very helpful app store, seamless and agile touch screen and excellent feel, it truly is an object of desire which also completely justifies a camera phone's use with its 5 MP auto focus camera with flash. Overall, a phone really worth buying.Read full review...

excellent product but weak battery, very modern product, you would enjoy it

All the features are excellent. Cost is a little higher and battery seems to be weaker for the type of phone and the price it would cost.
Dialing speed is great, it also depends on the carrier.
Very very efficient features and very user friendly.
Big screen is very good for reading and surfing web. excellent memory

athe best Iphone 4

The iphone 4 hands down has the best resolution display of any phone currently available on the market. Apart from this the ease of dealing with this device after opening the box is a definite plus. Also because of the popularity accessories and apps are readily available to download.

Pros-
1) Easily syncs with outlook mail and other mail services
2) Retina display is very smooth and sharp
3) Touch screen is highly responsive
4) Screen orientation can be locked and apart from this has also a gyro and accelerometer
5) Smooth internet browser. The Dual camera...Read full review is great for video chat
6) Mobileme helps locate your phone if lost or stolen
7) Hands free function was excellent on 3GS and is equally good on the 4. Many don't use it or are not aware of it. Keep the menu button pressed and you go to voice control. Just say "dial *name of person or est.* mobile or phone". Also the same control can be used for playing a music album which is great. If your accent is very thick you might have trouble though so keep it simple slow and clear.

Cons:
Apple as usual goes out of its way to keep you locked in to them and their hardware is not future proof which means buy it today and by tomorrow its obsolete.
1) Does not have a SD card slot so memory is fixed
2) No HDMI slot so can't fix to HDTV, however can be connected to TV through component cables.
3) The phone is locked down and thus limited to Apple itunes and its carrier.
4) Following 3GS you would think that they would bring this out as 4G but it is only a 3G phone.
5) Video chat (Face time as dubbed by Apple) is limited to WiFi only and not carrier internet service (lame if you ask me). Though probably the carrier cant handle the load anyway.
6) Biggest drawback is not Flash compatible and though many sites don't necessarily use flash, most of the popular sites and news services do. This in my books limits much of the internet surfing experiences.

Conclusion: If this is your first phone you will undoubtedly fall in love with it. If your upgrading from the iphone 3GS then don't bother because functionality and user experience is the same. The only useful differentiating fact is the LED flash that comes with the iphone 4 which really helps when taking pictures in a night club. If your a tech geek you will find the phone though capable of so much more to be restrictive and will invariably Jail break it or try and unlock it some other way. Though I would suggest going for the new better Motorola Atrix. If your a businessman then this phone is perfect as it does virtually everything from push mail alert, checking on stocks, banking, powerpoint editing, word documents editing (though you have to buy the app. for $7 worth it i.e. Documents to go).

Product is of great quality, user friendly, & compact for multi-tasking!

Sorry for the short review but I think things quick and concise (simplicity)! Hope this review helps and be sure to rate! Thanks!

Pros: The iPhone 4 offers enhanced performance, a lovely new display, and an improved design. It also adds a ton of sorely needed features, both by itself and through the iOS 4 update. The flat design feels comfortable in the hand and the operating system interface is user friendly. If you get lost just hit the home button.

Cons: Multitasking entails some trade-offs, and home screen folders are limited to 12 apps. AT&T reception continues to be spotty, and you'll need a case for the best calling reception. Also, we'd prefer a 64GB model. AT&T is horrible and if you jailbreak it for a different network you can no longer sync with iTunes.

Bottom Line: With the iPhone 4, Apple again shows that it is a powerful player in the smartphone wars. It won't be for everyone, the call quality and reception vary if you don't use a case, and AT&T's network remains a sticking point, but the handset's striking design, loaded feature set, and generally agreeable performance make it the best iPhone yet. It is a great phone to buy because it holds its value well.
