lightweight, great features

Had one that broke (be careful with battery case!). Glad to find exact same thing on eBay.

Do Not Reccommend the Nikon Coolpix 24

This camera does have good image quality and is fairly easy to use. But, the battery door latches under a thin lip on the camera body and the lip is very fragile. Even if a small piece should break off the battery door will not stay closed. You can do what I did, use a strong rubber band to hold the door shut. But, that can be a pain because to be effective the rubber band will cover the controls on the rear of the camera. That makes it more difficult to use and becomes a real pain!!!Read full review...

Nikon coolpix

Nice camera, the mentioned missing piece is on top of camera and is very sharp, intended for present for Great-Granddaughter but don’t think with the sharpness of the edge it is appropriate for a 12 year old...Read full review...

Good Camera - Bad Battery Latch

I've owned at least 5 of these cameras. They take good pictures and are easy to use. The weak point is the battery door latch. In time they all fail. Nikon should have corrected this problem years ago.Read full review...

L-24 Cool Pix

Disappointing that Nikon did not correct the poor battery door. I have had 2 Cool Pix L22 Nikon cameras that have the same battery door. Both failed and needed repairs.

Good camera for the price

I bought this camera for my husband to take to the paintball field when he plays. He has a Nikon coolpix L100 and he likes it but it's get's in the way of his other gear. The L24 seems to be a good camera with clear pictures. It's small so you can take it in a pocket if you didn't want to use your phone. It has a decent zoom, easy to use. It has most of the features of the L100. I would call it a good everyday camera.Read full review...

While the latch on the battery door was broken, I was able to fabricate a fix which is attached using 2 of the existing screws on the camera.

Good camera, SHORT lifespan

The Nikon COOLPIX L24 has good picture quality, I love the features (there are many and they are super easy to use), it is light weight and easy to carry anywhere, but not so small you easily loose it. I enjoyed the camera for 1 year and 7 months. It had fairly low usage (5000-8000 pictures). In fact, I had nothing bad to say about it until the battery door broke.

After close examination, I found that the battery door is held shut by two tiny slivers of plastic. Since the batteries create a spring-loaded effect once the door is closed, a lot of pressure is put on these two little tabs of plastic. Apparently, after a while they bust off. I would expect a camera like this to last at least three years, and mine barely made it past the halfway mark.

If you buy this camera, take into account that it will not last a long time. If you plan to only use it for a few trips and then replace it, then maybe it's the camera for you. Otherwise, I'd stay away from this particular design.
