Great AA Battery Video Camera

I am not too fond of devices that use expensive hard to get batteries. Especially cameras. I like this Nikon Coolpix L22 that uses a couple of AA batteries. It gives me about 40 minutes of video recording time which I find to be worth it. Video quality is good. The optical telephoto gives nice enlargements without the picture going grainy. My first L22 lasted about three years, with fairly hard use. I am on my second one right now.Read full review...

Great little camera, horrible battery / SD card cover design

I love Nikon's L-series cameras and have used and recommended them for years both personally and at work. The zoom is ho-hum, but for what it is (an inexpensive point-and-shoot camera,) it is an awesome product. Its one serious fault and definitely something to be aware of and watch for (and something Nikon should fix asap) is the flimsy cover "door" for batteries / SD card / USB cable access. It breaks - irreversibly - in a heartbeat and almost guaranteed. Since it gives access to all that, one can't avoid opening it frequently, and very soon a miniscule piece of plastic "lock" breaks off and voila, the camera is irreparably broken. Almost all used L-cameras on eBay have this issue - read the fine print and beware! Do NOT believe all the sellers who pass this off as a minor issue fixable with e.g. duct tape or a rubber band or use of a skin. I have tried all this and none of it is a viable fix. Without the door, the batteries don't stay in properly and the camera won't work right for you. I'm currently replacing my 7th digital Nikon... every single one because of this door problem. Be aware if you buy one and treat the little door with kid gloves.Read full review...

Digital camera

The camera was in good condition. I had to get a cable cord to link it up to the computer. It didn't come with one.

Great to use

I had one before and I dropped it on the floor and the middle part of batteries broke. So I already knew about this product... Thank you

Easy to use - colors are good -

Excellent camera for casual snap shots. Very easy to use.

This is the third Nikon L22 that I have owned. They are easy to use and fairly rugged. I use it for snaps of my DIY projects and other things one would normally take pictures of. It has most features needed for the casual photographer. I can easily put it into my pocket for those unexpected moments. Batteries last long enough to take hundreds of photos, including flash pics. Autofocus works very well. It is easier to use and better priced than the Canon Power-Sht A2500 pocket camera, although the Canon takes sharper photos at 16 mega-pixels. The Nikon L22 is an excellent general purpose digital camera.Read full review...

Great Reliable Back-Up Camera

I use my Nikon Coolpix L22 primarily as a back-up when I don't have my D60 with me. It is always hanging on my belt, ready to go. I find that the quality of the images are, most generally, excellent. It does have VR but I find that for extremes in zoom mode it is limited unless I have a mono or tripod. But for times I visit a museum where they do not allow large cameras (or, as one exhibit told me, anything with a detachable lens) this L22 works quite well, capturing images in all sorts of different lighting. The available settings (flash, no flash, sports, portrait, etc) are a nice feature for an inexpensive quality unit. There is even a "museum" setting. The 12mp image size is great. I typically use AA batteries (Duracell or Energizer) and they last for an extremely long time, probably a good 200-300 shots, maybe more. It is very easy to get used to and operate, with a nice size preview screen. Overall I am very pleased with the Coolpix L22 and would recommend it for amateurs, enthusiasts, or anyone needing to have a back-up for, as I said, times when larger gear is not allowed.Read full review...
