Bold 9650

This is a replacement for my World Edition 8830 since the trackball dies. This one has a trackpad and may be a bit more durable. It is much the same phone and runs on the old 3G network and is not 4G capable. The form factor is a nice size & good for what Blackberry does best. Since it is difficult to transfer contracts, tasks & other information from a Blackberry to an Android or IOS phone, I'm opting to replace on BB with another as I can close all that & my Password Keeper. Problems with provisioning the phone for data on my network were finally sorted out with the very hard reset of the phone using the MSL method.Read full review...

Great device, well done, Blackberry.

Great device, well done, Blackberry. The BlackBerry Bold 9650 adds Wi-Fi and double the onboard memory. The smartphone offers world-roaming capabilities and the SIM can be unlocked. Nice form factor.<br>It will work on Verizon's network as usual, but when you travel overseas, it will automatically detect and connect to a GSM network, so you can continue to make calls and receive data. Like the Tour, the Bold supports the 2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA band, so you can get 3G support overseas. In addition, the Bold is Verizon's first smartphone to support the carrier's GlobalAccess Connect service, which allows you to use the Bold as a tethered modem while abroad. Plans start at $65 per month with a 5GB data cap in the U.S. and Canada (5 cents per MB overage fee) and 100MB allowance in select countries ($5.12 per MB overage fee).Read full review...

Great Phone

Overall, is a great phone, easy to use, great camera, has a great style desing, screen is bright and has a good resolution, the downside (for me) is that i took this phone overseas and the 3G band doesn`t work, you can connect to data, BB pin, Blackberry internet service, Facebook, but it will do it at 2G speed (EDGE), still it works!!!. Cool phone.Read full review...

BlackBerry is still the best

BlackBerry is still the best phone in my opinion. The physical keyboard is much better than the "virtual" keyboards on other phones.

Great value and the best fit for my hands.

I am very pleased with the Bold 9650. The keyboard fits my fingers better than the other smart phones I have tried and the keyboard does not double-key like the Droid that I used to use. My primary applications are e-mail, phone with Bluetooth headset and the rare, but occasional, use of the phone as a cellular modem when I have no other connectivity for my laptop. I also like that the battery is removable so that I can carry a spare for days when I use the phone a lot in areas with limited signal strength and no place to plug in a charger. I will probably try the new Blackberry 10, but will use the Bold until then.Read full review...

Good device but don't upgrade software!

When we hear the word Bold on the BlackBerry Market we think: Performance! This is not the case with BlackBerry Bold 9650.

First, this device features BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 and it does well running apps, games, themes and browsing but not as good as the others Bold.

Sometime we can hear that this is the same as 9700 but this is not true, 9650 has only 524Mhz and 9700 has 624Mhz of CPU speed, so the 9700 wins!

The good thing of this phone is the RAM, which is 512MB making it the same as the Torch 9800 or even Bold 9780 but RAM is not all, to keep our phone running pretty well a fast CPU is needed. Anyway, let's move to another apartment.

Device Software 5.0 runs fast, excellent and very responsible. Don't do the error of upgrade to 6.0 or you will experiment one of the slowest BlackBerry devices.

Including some games for entertainment like Sudoku, Solitary, Texas Poker, WordMole and BrickBreaker you can spend hours of fun when you don't have nothing to do.

Other Software included with the phone is the Docs to Go trial and BBM. No preinstalled software like facebook, twitter or myspace is present but you can easily download them via OTA.

Mines comes with an 3.2MPx camera with flash but BE AWARE there are an BOLD 9650 version that comes without Camera.

Features WiFi, GPS and the optical trackpad for better movement trough menu and apps.

Overall I would state this device a 4 of 5 because its CPU makes it slow when upgrading the device software.

Thanks, God bless
