About us
!n 1969 Richard met and married Susan Nagoda in Tucson, Arizona. Susan started Los Santos Stoneware shop at the Old Adobe Patio. Prior to that she made ceramics for her shop at DeGrazia Art galleries. Richard had attended Chouinard's Art Institute in Los Angeles and had a background in ceramics. Working together, Susan designed candle holders and garden sculptures that evolved into Saint Figurines. Her interest in Southwest folklore and customs
soon led to a variety of Saints which they took to Arts and Craft Shows around the Southwest. In 1982 Susan's interests shifted to Native American Mythology and Animal tales which she illustrated in various medias and ceramic sculptures. Richard continued making Saints until 2011 when he took a position as Branch Manager for the Bowie Library. After 11 years he retired to paint landscapes in various mediums, and recently began making Santos again. His newest work will be sold exclusivley here at Richard Bergquist Arts.
