Mesquite Burl collected from North Central Arizona. The high desert climate and geography tends to form exceptional burls. The material is not removed from living trees, it's collected from developments, roads, rivers, canyons and washes. It's a hard material to work, similar to ironwood. The burl caps and root burl can contain rocks, sand, wire, bullets, etc.
The processed material is crafted from caps and root burl. I use only the best pieces when doing this, there is a lot of waste material in attempting to get void free pieces. The material
has a tendency to form a lot of inclusions, large clear of defect pieces are uncommon.
