About us
Lonesome Burl Studio is the outcome of my passion for transforming burl and highly figured wood into beautiful shapes. It fascinates me that often the defects of wood create the most beauty. Maple is a nice wood. But the maple tree falls in a storm and begins to decay. Fungus enters the wood and creates beautiful spalted colors of black, red, and yellow. Someone hammers a nail into a sycamore tree. The tree repairs itself by growing around the nail and a five hundred pound burl is born over time. I feel privileged to work with wood and uncover what the eye cannot always see. Mixing woods often draws a deeper beauty out of each color. It is always an adventure. Our mission is quite simple....we are determined to offer beautiful artistic wood and burl products at reasonable prices and to treat each customer like they are the most important one we have.
