I’m Stephanie and I started making Japanese Kintsugi because I think the symbolism of this ancient art form so perfectly reflects life. Even in the midst of brokenness beauty can be found, and what was once broken can be mended into something that is stronger than its original form.
Each piece I make has been completely broken then repaired. Once the piece has been glued back together I trace an epoxy bead along each crack. While the epoxy is still wet/tacky I brush a very finely-milled metal powder blend over the bead. Once completely dried I coat each line with a clear sealant to preserve the color and integrity of the piece.
15% of all of my sales (with the exception of pieces made for the Courageous Girls ministry) goes to support our dear friends, Dr. Val and Waffle Lomilo, who choose to live, love, and serve with the love of Jesus in Uganda.
