Though I offer an eclectic array of items, Antique Jewelry is my passion and there is much to be said of its timeless quality. It exists as if in an ethereal realm, exempt from the laws of couture. It is not owned by the present, but borrowed from the distant past and the survivors have earned the right to be a style unto themselves. We read History in Antique Jewelry composition: themes of Egyptian rulers, celestial events, Suffragettes, and rebel "Flappers" tell the tales. We find hair of long ago loved ones, remnants of remembrance, woven into fine chains or prominently displayed behind locket glass. Sentimental symbols held puzzle-like messages for sweethearts. The undying love of a mourning Queen for her fallen Prince so consuming and enduring, it caused decades of jewelry to mirror her pain.
