We provide food, water, clothing, preschool education and health services daily for poor children in Southern Africa. Our organic gardens sustain the food program. The water well in our center not only irrigates the gardens, it also provides water for hundreds of families. Our health centers provide free health services for children and their families. To empower communities and break the cycle of poverty we support training in higher education as well.
The Meriwether Foundation Charity Shop offers a variety of pre-owned and new items for sale, in an effort to raise funds for on-going activities, in connection with children, and their mothers. The overall, broad mission is to empower communities, in an effort to alleviate poverty, in rural, impoverished communities in Southern Africa. In terms of specific activities, the Meriwether Foundation, a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit charity, provides free nutritious meals which include staple food, fruit, water and basic education, comprised of early childhood education modules, which have been adapted to rural African educational environment. Under the leadership of a physician, who is one of the hands on founders of the foundation, we provide primary-care and preventative health services.
