More About the Jordan 1 Silhouette

In 1985, Peter Moore at Nike designed the Jordan 1. The Jordan 1 is the first and only Jordan sneaker to include a Nike Swoosh logo on the sneaker’s side. These sneakers also feature the Air Jordan Wings logo, which shows a flying basketball with wings. Performance was a big factor in the design of the Jordan 1, so it features leather material and overlays, a perforated toebox for ventilation, and a mid-top collar for ankle support. As the Jordan 1 evolved, new silhouettes and updates on the original gained prevalence with new or changed features or other updates. The Jordan 1 Mid Crater is one new take on the original style.

The Jordan 1 Mid Crater gets its name from the crater-like design on the shoe. The upper is black denim, losing the traditional leather material as seen on the OG Jordan 1. No perforation on the toe and the addition of a white Jumpman logo on the tongue are also changes from the original Jordan 1 design. Black overlays go around the collar, matching the black toe and tongue. On the collar, the Jordan Wings logo blends into the material, and the Nike Swoosh logo on the mid panel has a multicolored material. Stitched zig-zag lines go over the Swoosh in blue. Black laces keep the upper almost completely black. A white midsole brings contrast to this otherwise dark sneaker’s design while still staying cohesive with colorful spots throughout, and the crater outsole finishes the shoe with more color.
