The Bessa T is Voigtlander's 1st M bayonet camera. Voigtlender is a venerable but reborn brand name, being used now by Cosina( Japanese custom OEM manufacturer). The Bessa T is a great low cost entry into the M system, or a great low cost 2nd M body. The Bessa T does have a mechanical shutter and a TTL meter though with exposure displayed on three LEDs. I bought The Bessa T because it is a low priced M camera that can focus even fast telephoto Leica M or Screw mount lenses accurately. It cheaper than Leica M very much. But The Bessa T is not a fast camera to operate because it does not have normal viewfider.
I've owned (2) Leica M2 bodies and (1) Leica M6 body. To be really honest, shooting the Bessa T was more enjoyable to me...by far. Loved the rangefinder, which enables you to get spot on focusing. Sure, you have to look through a viewfinder for composition, but it's not exactly like the design of the Leica rangefinder is built for speed either. Personally, I'd shoot this for pleasure over the Leica. For the long haul, of course Leica is far better built.

The Bessa T performs as advertised. It's a great backup body for a Leica M system user because it accepts nearly all Leica TM and BM lenses. The accuracy of the rangefinder is the reason for using the Bessa T. But, it is not a fast camera to operate because your eye must switch from the rangefinder to an accessory viewfinder to compose the final image before shooting. A specialized camera, to be sure, but an excellent value.
