A recent job found me spending considerably more time at my computer than I had been used to. I found that my monitor was too small and too dim. Some research suggested that the ViewSonic VX922 19 inch LCD Monitor was what I needed-- bright, with a high contrast and a fast refresh rate. The monitor has been all I hoped it would be. It's much easier to read the text that I work with, and much easier to see. The price I paid, around $200, was reasonable, and about what one might pay for monitors of lesser capabilities. I am not certain whether this monitor has the same sharpness as a comparable CRT monitor, but for the work I do, it is more than sufficient and I would not hesitate to give it a wholehearted recomendation.
Bought this to match an existing 19" LCD, also Viewsonic, so I could have a dual monitor system. Its big and bright. Resolution is excellent for drafting, photo work, just about anything. (Note: I'm not a "gamer", so I can't comment on its suitability for that work) This model has interfaces for either VGA or DVI formats. Stand is a little taller than I would like; puts the bottom edge of the display screen proper at 5 3/4 inches from the desktop. My older Viewsonic VA902B is at 3 1/2 inches, a slightly more comfortable viewing height. All in all, an excellent piece of gear. Glad I stuck with Viewsonic; this one is as good as the original.
I have read reviews about a flaw of this monitor for not having adjustable height stand, and thus resulting in unclear view if a person is not seated properly. This is not true. It makes up for it with tilt back and forth. I was able to tilt it enough forward that I do not notice any loss of contrast, color, or anything. I had to adjust it since I sit lower and colors are very crisp all around.
It's an excellent LCD for gaming if you are looking for a 19" non widescreen. With 2ms response time and the lower prices you can find on ebay, its a definite must!
This is a great monitor ....very bright, very fast. I bought this one to pair with another one of the same model, in a dual monitor configuration. Two points about this model that you may find issue with are, a relatively wide bezel and no height or tilt adjustments.
