Nice Upgrade from the Basic Unit
When my TomTom One got stolen I decided to upgrade on its replacement and based on other reviews I chose the XL 340TM. Why? 1) Wider Screen and easier mounting system 2) Traffic Flow feedback to the unit can reroute based on delays, etc. 3) Free Lifetime Maps and Upgrades Inoitial set up is a long affair, better plan on at least 1 hr download and set up time and make sure you have enough space on yoour hard drive for the temp files or the unit will hang/freeze and you have to reset and start again. When driving it is easire to see and hear and the reroute is noce. Only problem I have with ALL GPS units is none come with a screen hood to block the sunlight washout of the screen, you figure for the price someone at TomTom, Garmin, etc would wake up and smell the coffee. They don't even offer one as an option!Read full review
Nice and Cool
Its nice and cool to work, its helps me alot for reaching to my destinations. Image and sound Quality also good. Suggestions for TomTom: Please make a device which has bluetooth to connect the Car Speakers, and add a general map feature cause some time I know where to go and just want to see the map without directions. Is there any search in it, cause I have to enter complete address for destination, no search engin it it as like in garmin.
Great little thing!
I want to start by saying that I am no technical wizard, just a poor student who got his hands on a little splurge money. I wanted to wait a while to write this review until I had had the item for a while to get the feel of it. I bought this item so that it would be easier for my parents to get around. I've ordered from eBay before, but nothing electronic. I must say, overall, this was a great buy. It arrived on time, correct within the ETA eBay gave. The packaging was spot on, with no rips or tears to the packaging. Honestly, I was surprised when it was suddenly left in the doorway but I guess that was totally up to USPS, not eBay. Anyway, about the item in question, it was flawless. After a few minutes set-up, it was receiving signal and ready to go. The installation into the car was a breeze, and it only took seconds. There's a system that sticks onto the windowsill and a sticky pad that I guess was to connect to the dashboard, but it didn't really stick. I guess it has to be a flat surface. The item itself has a three snap system that disconnects it from the windowsill system, for safely while parked (it snaps on and off in a second). The item comes with a cord that connects it to the cigarette lighter in the car (don't worry, charging doesn't take long). book that tells you how to set up and is translated into Spanish in the last half of the book. There's a code on a sheet of paper with the one I bought that provides unlimited maps. I'll explain this. The second cord in the box connects your GPS to a computer. Once connected, the device will ask if you want to connect to "Computer". Touch yes (it is a touch screen), and you will have to download a program onto your computer for usage, uploads, and updates (don't worry, this will not overload or infect your computer). The program takes up little space and is hardly in the way. The program might get annoying sometimes, it'll ask you to update the program which makes you download it again after you just downloaded it. However, I did this and it did not ruin anything, it actually helped in the simplicity of using the device, so don't be confused it suddenly you're going through the installation process again (it only takes about two minutes, anyway). In closing, this is a great little device that's quick, easy, and gives great directions. You get a choice of who directs you, but the best one's cost. For the price, I could not have asked for more. I'd recommend it to anyone. Contact me if any more questions. But remember, I'm not a professional tech-wizard.Read full review
Toss your maps away.
I really like this unit. It is classic Tom Tom in form and function. It is rather intuitive. I especially like the fact that it has lifetime traffic and maps. The price was exceptional with my coupon. It is a lot cheaper here than I could find anywhere else ($139.00), shipping included. It reroutes quickly. I like the mount that comes with it. Dislikes are it does not have an expansion slot and the owners manual does not contain enough info. You have to go online to read the full operations manual. I only needed to look up a few items because I already have one Tom Tom.
Love all the features and the map updates!
Open the box, turn it on and go. Very easy to use. When you first turn it on, it asks if you want to go through the tutorials for each feature the first time that you use it. Made it very easy to get going quickly. Lots of color schemes for making it easy to see in both nightime and daytime modes, love the free map updates and the traffic is nice too. Didn't think I'd like that but it works well. I also like switching between 2d and 3d views.
