About this product
- Product InformationSet on the titular planet in the year 2027, Tobal No. 1 is a 3D fighting game based on the premise of an interstellar tournament where the winning lays claim to planet's abundant Molmoran, a valuable energy-producing ore. Each of the eight initially playable characters can perform high, medium, and low attacks, and the game makes use of a grappling and blocking system that lets players execute a variety of throws and counterattacks. Tobal No. 1 also features a "Quest" mode that functions more as a classic RPG, letting gamers unlock additional characters by exploring dungeons, collecting items, and fighting fellow tournament contestants.

Great PS1 Gem!
Tobal is one of the most overlooked game in PlayStation history. The graphics of this game was before it's time and games fighting mechanics are excellent. Happy to have this in my PlayStation collection.

Wonderful product, Die hard fan of Final Fantasy 7. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I bought this product for the simple fact that I am a die hard fan of Final Fantasy 7, and I just had to get the earlier demo of the video game. I liked the fact that you could play the early demo of Final Fantasy 7 before the actual game came out, and being a die hard fan of the game, I just had to get it. If you are a die hard fan of Final Fantasy 7 like I am, the demo is well worth playing. It is really NOTHING like the actual game, and I think you'll find this VERY INTERESTING. No dislikes. 5 out of 5 stars. It's been a real pleasure to take the time and type this review. With this review alone, my goal is to touch the hearts of millions of die hard Final Fantasy 7 fans out there. Do yourself a favor and give this early demo a shot. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Thank You for reading this review. Read full review

Tobal No. 1 by Tau
Talofa Lava! i am a avid gamer from American Samoa, when the playstation originally came out this was one of the first games that was available for it, now the PS was in those days the best system for graphics out there the graphics for Tekken were out of this world back in those days and Tobal was no exception to that... and why not when this game's artwork was done by none other than Legendary Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama. (which is something that DBGT cant even claim) so continuing on the opening credits of this game features a eye catching opening tournament scene in which you get a sort of introduction to all of the characters and what they're about (none of them speak making it hard to tell if there are any storylines involved here besides the tournament itself and the small bio's that were provided in the manual mostly give backround info rather than motivation) so for graphics i give Tobal no. 1 a A++ considering of course the era of this game... beyond that you have of course the fighting Tobal is unique in that you can fight from all angles even side step attacks and come up with new and innovative ways to fight grapple and even hilariously ring out your opponent i think thats one of the most fun parts for me about this game was all the battling me and my brothers did my personal favorite character has always been Gren Kutz, and Chuji comes in second... beyond that you have the Quest mode now this by far was my favorite part of the game in it's heyday seeing how far i could get in this huge maze and all the items i could pick up... the quest mode if i remember correctly would change up you wouldn't always get the same maps but they would always pit you against the same enemys in difficulty order and as well you'd have to get passed the other tobal fighters to get your ultimate prize!!!! i won't spoil what that prize is... or even how to get it cause that would be robbing you of alot of fun obtaining it.... oh i also loved the bosses.... the Giant Nork! and the tiny master kung fu master rabbit named after Udon noodles... Akira and his love for naming his characters after food lol bless his soul.. you know how much we all love Vegeta... anyway that's getting off topic. I love this game so much year's later im here re building my game collection and thanking the lord above that all my old system's still work. and i've come across my old playstation with no wires. and i still felt the strong urge to buy this game even without the playstation lol that's How much i love that game i wanted to buy it so bad i bought it without anything to play it on... k maybe im a lil biast but i still love the game and highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a game like this to try out. if there are any shortcomings about this game to be objective. it's that the characters don't have any good endings and i'm sure you can look up the endings on youtube and you'll see what i mean.. beyond that none of the characters speak so there's no real storyline here and that can really make or break a game but this is one of the games that didn't break for me... and many such games did... So yea if they ever make a good sequal actual talking characters would help! please! i love how they named this game Tobal no.1 immidiately assuming there would be a sequel lol and yes i know there was a tobal 2 but i never played it and if i remember correctly it was a giant fail but id love to see this game and its characters brought back with a storyline Read full review

A Great 3D Fighter
Tobal is a great 3D fighting game that features some extras that help keep the game fresh. Like Ehrgeiz, Tobal features a dungeon mode in addition to the standard fighting game. The dungeon mode in Tobal is not quite as good as Ehrgeiz’s, it is still fun. The fighting game portion is also well done, with interesting characters designed by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball Z, Chrono Trigger). There are also tons of different moves to learn for each character which also adds a lot to the game. Tobal is a great fighter with tons of replay value and a fun dungeon mode. Highly recommended. Pros: - High replay value - Strange characters - Unique dungeon mode Cons: - Music can get annoying

The original 3D fighter that Tekken is based off of.
This is the original 3D fighter and one of the first PlayStation games that I ever played. The fighting system is standard and all moves are real martial arts maneuvers. There are pieces of judo, professional wrestling, and dancing robots stren about the diverse cast of characters. In addition to the regular fighting championship mode, there is a special dungeon quest mode. If it can be traversed, the player can unlock a special hidden fighter. All in all this game is must have for any PlayStation collector.
