The Truth about Charlie (DVD, 2003)
The plot is completely unpredictable and you need to sit still right through the credits to get the full effect. Subtle humor, unusual (and well-done) camerawork, surrealistic appearances of French pop singers. This is a wonderful movie. CHARADE is the best light mystery-comedy ever made, starring Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Walter Matthau, and the city of Paris, all in luminous form. If you want an excellent version of "Charade"--this is the DVD to buy. Highly recommended!
Only worth watching because 'Charade' comes with it
"The Truth About Charlie" is a remake of "Charade". Luckily, a copy of "Charade", which starred Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, George Kennedy, James Coburn, and Walter Matthau comes with it. Someone once said, "The greatest Hitchcock movie ever made was "Charade", except Hitchcock didn't make it." This is very true, and why anyone would try to remake this classic is beyond me. The plot deals with the murder of Mrs. Lambert's husband, Charley, a man who has stolen a great deal of money. His partners want their share, and they are convinced that his wife has it. Mrs. Lambert actually has no idea where the money is, putting her in great danger. The actors and the director of the remake are not up to the task of filling the shoes of the stars of the original.
Buy this for Charade
I bought this for the version of Charade on the back side. I actually haven't even watched The Truth About Charlie. However, the version of Charade is marvelous. Most versions are poor copies of the original but this one has been cleaned up and is sharp and clear.
good flick, with a bonus
Ii is a good movie, and the disc comes with the original movie: Hichcock's Charade on the flip side as a bonus. It is a modern version of the original. ( I still like Charade better, but since you get both with this item, and I needed a good copy of Charade anyway, it was a great buy. )
hard to follow at times but interesting
It has some interesting scenes. Intereesting relationships and people. Mark Walbert does a pretty good job with a beautiful love interest.
