Long time no see.
Nice to see this old sci/fi movie from my childhood, perfect copy. Went out and also bought "Rodan" another sci/fi from my youth. Glad to see they have preserved these classics. Thank you for quick service. To be added to my DVD collection.

GREAT SCI-FI MOVIE OF THE 1950s
For true sci-fi film buffs - this movie is gold. This was kind of Japan's 'version' of WAR OF THE WORLDS. Large scale, filled with action and imaginative special effects, it was a wonderfully entertaining film of its time. Of course the visual effects work doesn't stand up to today's (they didn't have computers back then!) - but taken in context of 1959 - the movie does function well. It was a landmark picture for it's time, and the first Japanese 'take' on a full scale, massive invasion from outer space. Highly recommended.

Not the same
No one can remember their movie experiences from childhood vividly and will sometimes enhance those memories. Naturally, compared to the CG graphics of today, a movie made in the 50's will look bad. When I watched "The Mysterians" for the first time after 50 years, it did not look the same and was really a disappointment, which was to be expected. However, I seem to remember a different form of the movie being released in the United States in 1959. Does anyone remember there being more content in the US release? It seems to me that there were more landslides involved, with giant insects coming out of the ground into homes. I don't think that these scenes were from an some other movie that I saw. But as the old saying goes, you can never go home again and, to paraphrase, you can never relive memories exactly as they happened. Read full review

The Mysterains, the third in the Japanese Invasion of t
The mysterians is the third film, after Godzila and Rodan, in the Japanese sci-fi invasion which beganin 1956. It is the transition film going form half way dicent stories and special to the totaly tacky ones of the sixties. I bought it because I collect "so bad their good" movies, (Plan Nine is still the tops), this round out the set of three from Japan. The Mysterian was tied up in legal problems in the U.S. for years. The only copies you could get were Japanese VHS tapes for $50.00+. This was the right price in the right format.
