the Inn of the Sixth Happiness
I like the true story of this little woman who was determined to succeed in her goal of helping teach the Chinese people what she kneew about the Bible - despite obstacles and opposition. As a pioneer, she proved there is more happiness in giving, and she exhibited the type of courage the Bible says is necessary to obey Christ command to teach others. Her own story has personally inspired me in my volunteer service in the Mandarin field. Because she made herself available, she was able to contribute not only spiritually but also physically to the welfare of the people and the saving of 100 children! I look forward to meeting her in paradise on earth when she is resurrected as Christ resurrected Lazarus. It was prefectly cast and Ingrid Bergman was excellent in the title role.
Inn of the Sixth Happiness
I think "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" is one of the finest films I have ever seen. It is based on the true life story of Gladys Aylwood who, despite not having proper credentials, beieves she is destined to become a missionary in China. From her travels to China in very difficult circumstances to the last scene where she leads 100 orphaned children to safety, I found this film to be totally engrossing. It is a beautiful story of love, fear, bravery and determination. Gladys Aylwood was truly inspirational in her desire to help improve the lives of the Chinese people whom she loved. Ingrid Bergman is as usual outstanding in this truly remarkable story of one woman who made a difference. This film is one of my favorites of all time which is why I wanted it in my collection.
INN OF THE SIXTH HAPPINESS
Have liked this Ingrid Bergman film since I first viewed it when a teen. Happened to remember it the other day,so went searching. I couldn't believe how many copies there are. This is a romatised version of a real missionary to China just before WWII. I mean, she was a real missionary because she wanted to help the people, AND as she worked she told the stories of her GOD. Mild violence, but lots of adventure and background of the Chinese people during that era.
This was a great story. We can make a difference just one person at a time. This will make you feel inspired to help others and to press on doing good.
