A little dated but still a valuable resource which applies to current status. Contains quite a history of the markets and investing in general. Well worth the read for anyone serious about understanding where we are and where we are going. Not to be read at this beach, this is a scholastic work which will require a good amount of thought to appreciate.

If you believe in the theory of owning non correlating assets so that you always have some that are doing well, and some that aren't, then this is the book for you. The idea is that by doing this you can avoid the booms and bust cycles of say the late 90's. Also, it is intellectually challenging which I liked.
I gave my original copy to my niece, and replaced it recently. I feel that this is the best book I have ever read on investing. And I have read many such books.
