A really well written & researched book about the Dark Side of the Moon
I've been a "Floyd-Head" since 1973 when I received DSOTM as a Christmas gift, so when I spotted this book on E-Bay, I jumped on it. I greatly enjoyed the well-written history of the behind-the-scenes making of the album, along with all of the information about the group leading-up to DSOTM. I did not know until now that David Gilmore & Roger Waters were at odds so early on. They are both passionate about the music that they produce and bumping heads seems a logical by-product of the emotional and stressful times they were in. John Harris presents the reader with quite a few "AHA" moments about the band members as well as the people behind the band and the album itself. This book is well written and it is apparent that John Harris did a lot of homework and detective work in his research for this project. He really brought all of the people involved out into the light, for me anyway. I love reading about musicians and their work and this book did not let me down.Read full review
Dark Side of the Moon Book
If you are a fan of Pink Floyd you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Many behind the scenes insights into the making of this classic album. Also includes discussuions concerning the various spoken parts on the album, what was said and who said it as well as how the whole concept came about. There is an interview with Claire Tory, the woman who sings on Great Gig in the Sky which is very interesting.
