Lacks any feeling of previous Terminators.
This movie is not in keeping with the feel of the previous Terminators. It feels like a completely different director and writer produced this film. And, without reading the box, that's most likely the case. This is the type of film anyone could have made. Not a shred of originality to it. Just some tough guys with action and fighting. It still was an OK basic movie to watch. Not worth more than 4 or 5 dollars.

Terminator Salvation (Blu-ray Disc, 2009, 2-Disc Set, WS; Director's Cut)
Terminator Salvation was exactly what the franchise needed to reinvigorate itself. While not as action packed as its three predecessors, we are finally introduced to John Connor, whose very existence has been the crux of the Terminator dogma. Exploring the initial structure of the human resistance, and its looming possibility of schism, truly gave one a sense of the scattered and desolate nature of humanity. It also showcases a stage in the ever-changing evolution of Skynet and its slow, rumbling path towards human extinction. Skynet isn't everywhere yet and the resistance, while holding out, still lacks the momentum, and personnel, to truly strike any critical blows against its AI antagonist. This sets up a very well-written story and poses the question "What truly makes us human?"

If you loved the originals...
Being a huge fan of the original Terminator series, I can see both the positives and the negatives of this movie. First, the bad. In the original series, the Resistance forces had very little in the way of supplies, equipment, and technology. In this movie, however, they have submarines, helicopters, weapons caches and endless ammunition, and all sorts of gadgetry. When you think about it, this is supposed to be a world basically run by computers, with the humans having to scavage for various necessities. Just a small detail that was ultimately sacrificed in order to give movie-goers a flashier movie. Now, the good. The special effects and plot line are just bad-ass. Christian Bale does an excellent job of playing John Conner, and seems perfect for the role. The story generally keeps to the original plot where needed (i.e. sending his father back in time, and the use of his mother's tapes). Few sequels/remakes actually keep up with what actually happened in the first movie(s). Overall, this film can certainly be appreciated by both the fans of the original films and by viewers that are new to the story. However, die-hard Terminator fanatics might find a few other parts of the story that were changed and adapted, and may like the movie a little less because of it. However, I personally enjoyed it. Terminator Salvation - John Connor's story
Christian Bale (Batman Begins and the Dark Knight) stars as John Connor in this fourth installment of the Terminator series. Set in the year 2018, John Connor leads an attack by the Resistance on a Skynet base (Skynet destroyed most of humanity in a nuclear attack. The movie is very involved in the life of the resistance leader and those who choose to follow him. In the film some good alliances are formed and some traitors are discovered. The movie stars: Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Moon Bloodgood, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jadagrace Berry, Michael Ironside and Helena Bonham Carter. Unlike the other Terminator movies this one is rated PG-13 (The others were rated R) there are scenes of Violence, intense action, and some language. In this version of the film you receive the Widescreen Blu-Ray disk, along with the Blu-ray extras disk and a Digital download disk. Even if your not a fan of the Terminator Series you will be impressed with the graphic in this movie. Buy or rent, this one is worth the price Read full review

A well directed continuation of an epic storyline
How do you make a terminator movie without the governator? Go see McG's continuation of the terminator series. First off, his direction and scope of this movie I have to say impressed me. McG's comments and movie experience with this blu ray set with him explaining how and why he was doing all in one camera angles to mixing excitement and great effects for the fans of the series of films will love it, just like I did. I even like the fact that they used stuff from the other films like sayings, voices and characters. The main thing I enjoyed watching was the new stuff in this film such as the worm like terminators, moto terminators and finally seeing the T600's that kyle reese mentions in the 1st terminator movie. Thirdly the acting and such was not all that terrible, Bale and Worthington are great tough guy's trying to one up one another in this but it's not bothersome. Finally, about the disc set here there is very little difference between the directors cut and the theatrical. The directors cut has a small nudity scene with Moon, and a few more spots of play with other actors but that's it. I just wish McG had the same behind the scenes movie experience he had in the theatrical version because it's not on the directors cut. All in all a great action movie with tons of new and interesting features that a fan of this series will appreciate. I decided to go with a local co. here in FL to get the awesome extra stuff along with the movie at a great price and I'm glad I can help out a local business here in FL. Great stuff check them out!
