TH...E DRIVER WAS AN 8 OUT OF 10, NOT 9 AS DESCRIBED. I BOUGHT THE DRIVER BECAUSE I COULD ADJUST THE CLUB HEAD AS I NEEDED. THE DRIVER IS ONE OF THE MOST ADJUSTABLE CLUBS OUT ON THE MARKET. TITLEIST NEWEST DRIVER IS MORE ADJUSTABLE, I SHOULD'VE WAITED. FOR A NOVICE LIKE MYSELF, YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS CLUB. MAKE SURE YOU BUY OR GET THE TORQUE WRENCH IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS TO ANY TAYLORMADE CLUB. CLUB IS AT LEAST 10-20 YARDS SHORTER THAN THE RBZ. SOUNDS BETTER WHEN IMPACTING THE GOLF BALL. HARDER TO KEEP CLEAN DUE TO THE ADJUSTABLE HEEL PLATE, BUT DOABLE. THE SHAFT THAT CAME WITH THE CLUB WAS A SENIOR FLEX. I SWITCHED IT OUT WITH A PROLAUNCH REGULAR SHAFT AND GOT THE RESULT THAT I WANTED, HIGH AND STRAIGHT BUT SHORTER THAN MY RBZ WITH AN XCON 6 SHAFT ON IT. I SWITCHED THE PROLAUNCH SHAFT ON THE RBZ AND GOT STRAIGHT AND LONGER DRIVES. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE OUT THERE. FIND THE SHAFT THAT WORKS FOR YOU AND THEN INVEST IN CLUBS THAT YOU LIKE OR HAVE HIT AT ONE OF THE STORES THAT ALLOWS YOU TO "TEST DRIVE" ONE OF THE CLUBS PRIOR TO PURCHASING. GOOD-LUCK.
I was looking to try somethi...ng new. Seemed like just about half the tour had one in play so i figured a low risk trial if nothing else. Club feels a little heavy but in a good way. Feels stable. I have only hit maybe 60 balls with it total thats including the 1 round of golf i got to play due to winter weather. I like it alot and it kicked the Ping G10 out of the bag. Its not longer than the Ping but it is easier to keep in the fairway. The multiple adjustments are going to have to wait a few months for me to tinker with. Mine is a 10.5 with stock stiff Phenom shaft. I have the weights set to the draw set up but the shaft is in neutral. Ball flight comes off pretty hot to a medium high trajectory. Pretty straight as well. I also am tinkering with a RBZ Tour in the same loft. Also nice but so far i give a slight edge to the R11s. Very accurate, plenty long, and as good as anything out there i think. It has tons of potential with all the adjustability. With that alone this driver should give anybody a solid chance of getting dialed in to good results.
Don't b...elieve anyone (club pros) that tells you this is a gimmick club. If you analyze your swing and make changes to improve your game, this club is for you. Change the face angle for what suits you (black face on white club really helps alignment). Get some different weights, maybe a couple of different flex shafts, go to a store with a Trackman, and you can dial in distance, launch angle, spin, straight, fade or draw - and you REALLY can! I have dialed in a higher hit that goes almost as far as my summer drives in the winter, and this old body hits the ball at least 20 yards further in the summer, so I know it will give me more distance than my R7 SuperQuad did once it warms up- but with more fairways hit and with less effort. Maybe you won't have a SLDR or R15 this year, but with lower scores, do you really care? Between the head, 2 shafts, several weights, new headcover, new face adjuster, and two new grips, I have spent about $130 total - a lot less than for a new club that will not do any different.
This rev...iew is specific to the R11s TP. I've always been a "driver butterfly" ...going from one to the next in the search of the perfect tee shot. Literally 40 drivers worth. I still have 14 drivers in my basement. Everything from Callaway to TaylorMade to Cleveland, Cobra, Titleist and Adams. I currently have a Cleveland SL290 with Aldila Serrano in Stiff, another SL290 with ProLaunch Red in Stiff, a Rocketballz Stage 2 with the stock shaft in Stiff, and three R11s TPs. The R11s has a little more head weight than most of today's ultra-lightweight drivers, including the Rocketballz and RBZ Stage 2, which in my opinion are TOO light. I can't feel the head during my swing. The R11s feels VERY solid at impact, and yes, like many of these other reviews, is more ACCURATE than any driver I have ever played. The most important thing is the SHAFT, though. You absolutely MUST get the right shaft. That's true with any driver, but especially the R11s. I started with the Kai'li in S, but it was too stiff, and I just couldn't load the shaft, and my distance suffered. Next I tried the Blur in S, which was fantastic, but I really got it dialed in with the Project X in 5.5. The point is, there isn't just "one" R11s, you have to match it with the right shaft in order to see the benefits. Check manufacturer's websites and google "MPF shaft ratings" to find one for your swing. Some golf shops offer launch monitor fittings for $20-$40. I say it's worth it to be able to find out your ideal launch conditions, and to be able to try out a lot of DIFFERENT shafts and clubs. Saves a lot of trial and error (see my basement). Now, back to the R11s. Once you get a shaft that you love, you can move on to dialing in your custom specs like loft, face angle and weight bias. THIS is where the R11s SHINES. Start off at the driving range with your torque wrench handy. Hit some balls until you establish a tendency. Then, adjust one thing at a time to 'correct'. Maybe add a little loft to get some more carry, or close the face a click to straighten a fade. Then, once you get it dialed in, wail away. That's the BIGGEST thing for me, the CONFIDENCE that the R11s gives you. Once you dial it in, you know JUST what your ball is going to do, and you can stand on the tee CONFIDENT that you won't go left, or know that you can aim at that fairway bunker on the right and draw it right back to the center. Confidence is EVERYTHING when it comes to your driver, and THAT'S what the R11s gives you, more than anything. Now, I get to the course a little early, hit a small bucket to loosen up, and then maybe open the face a little to guard against that day's "hook" tendency, or take off a little loft to keep the ball down on a windy day. In other words, this is 50 drivers in one, and most importantly, the last driver YOU will ever need. Enjoy!
a little bit shorter than I expected but very consistent. v...ery pleasing look at address and the shape of the head is perfect for me. I am not in love with the design of the sole but overall this is a great driver.
