I'm unable to use a regular window air conditioner because of the way my windows open, so I researched swamp coolers and decided on the Sunpentown Air Cooler. It was a little larger than expected, but it works well. Cool air is distributed with a strong fan. It holds a lot of water which is good so that I don't need to refill it too often. The wheels make it convenient to pull out and put away. I haven't used the remote as it didn't come with a battery!

I received this cooler about a month ago and the first two weeks it worked fine and then one morning I woke to find that the machine had leaked out a ton of water all over my carpet. The leaking is random. Sometimes it's from the back of the machine, sometimes from one of the wheels, and sometimes from the sides. I've tried for the past two weeks different options to salvage the purchase and all I've ended up with is a destroyed carpet and soaked towels. The "cooling" factor of this product isn't worth the endless leaking. As far as the actual fan goes skip this product. It doesn't make the room any cooler. It's just a glorified fan that doesn't pump out that much air. Save up your money for something better. It's a waste of money.

I purchased this for use in my basement which tends to run very hot in the summer months and very humid the rest of the year. I wanted an air conditioner that would adequately cool the basement without requiring additional tools and an enormous heating/cooling bill. This product does a good job of cooling and is very easy on my electric bill. The only downfall I would say is the time it takes to install ice into the system which is used to cool the air. I pretty much use the ice from my household fridge which does the trick but treking a bowl of ice from the freezer to the unit can at times be a headache. Still it doesn't take long at all for the unit to begin working and the effects are felt immediately. All in all I would purchase this again. The price is excellent and the bargain was worth it.Read full review
basically just a big box with a fan inside, holds ice cubes and water at bottom, but ice melts fast and outside condensates, makes a big mess and drips everywhere. A $5 desktop fan will do the same job without the expense and mess. Big waste of money and time. Pain in the butt to prepare for cooling, needs re-icing very quickly. Cheapo hard brittle plastic cracks, ice door doesnt function too well, no real hinge, broke after 3 openings, a lot of resistance and plastic on plastic rubbing makes it difficult to open/close the door. Beeping notifier noise is intermittent, comes and goes as it pleases, no way to activate or turn it on/off? Such a huge unit for doing so little. Recommend NOT buying one of these.
It's like running a fan, but better. It is just as economical as a fan, but much cooler. I read that it does'nt work well in humid climates, but it does just fine here no matter how humid it is. However, it's not at all like an A/C unit. It will not cool down a room like the window A/C units. If you shut the windows it does make it sticky in that room. So I just use it like a really cool fan. Put ice in it and sit infront of it, very nice on hot days after work.
