My personal review -Purchase Sony SL-HF2000 VCR
As a beta vcr, this is an excellent unit to own. It is a superb unit to have in so far as editing and transferring beta tapes to dvd's. The record and playback functions work very, very well. However, the auto tracking function leaves some thing to be desired in that it appears not to work very well on somewhat older tapes that were recorded on other beta vcrs and/or cameras. The so called manual tracking on the remote helps a little in playing these tapes, but I think that it would have been much better if a real manual hand adjustable tracking control was provided on the actually VCR unit. Also, due to this tracking issue I would suggest that you may initially want to use a TV that does not automatically search for an active/constant video stream/signal, because some of the newer model TVs will not find a video if the video signal is distorted due to insufficient tracking of the tape being played. I actually had/have this when problem with my 47" Toshiba LCD TV. The TV searches for a live/actual video stream, and if it can not find an active video signal, the TV will tell you that there is "No VIDEO SIGNAL" even though the tape is in the unit and playing. This problem is due to the unit's automatic tracking control not being able to appropriately adjust the tracking of the tape being played. When this happens you will not be able to see on the TV's screen that the tape is not tracking correctly, even though the tape is playing in the unit, all you will see is a screen on the TV set saying that ther is "No VIDEO SIGNAL." To resolve this issue, I play all of my beta tapes first using an older model TV set (one that does not automatically search for a constant/active video signal) to determine if the unit will appropriately play and track the tapes. Outside of this issue, which in part is due to the way some of the newer model TV's are set up, this Beta VCR, as Beta has always been known for, has great picture and record quality in the either BII or BIII modes and superb quality in Super Beta or BI mode. I highly recommend this unit. Read full review

Great player to transfer any old Beta tapes to digital
At first when i first got it I was worried that it won't play any Beta tapes due to horror stories of other people buying Beta players online. It was like that at first till I actually open the thing and notice the small gear in the back isn't turning. After nudge it a bit the gear went into full swing a the whole machine works. Its amazing how one small component and screw up the whole player. Luckily I figure it out and player works perfectly. Haven't went into details on all the functionality but so far already loving the fast/slow rate on this thing.
