I am very pleased with the Sony Alpha A33. I have been using a simple point and shoot, but I wanted an SLR (or in this case an SLT) for the features of a more advanced camera and the better picture quality. This camera is old, made in 2010, but the owner rarely used it, so it was relatively pristine. Lots of custom settings and user features make the camera quite useful, such as specific focus for macro, scenery, etc. It can shoot in bursts, I think 7 shots in one second. The most notable difference though is in the picture quality. Way better than a point and shoot camera. What I don't like - relatively little, but I feel I should mention. 1. Grabbing the left side always seems to press a button, unintentionally. 2. Bulkier than a little point-and-shoot. 3. Need to change lenses for telephoto.Read full review

photographically impaired as my wife and i are, we wanted to upgrade from our lame point n shoot to a DSLR. after extensive research i decided on the sony a33 and what a camera it's been. our only real priority was faster autofocus to catch our baby girls in action and, true to the reviews, it's amazingly fast. equally amazing are the photo quality and dizzying amount of features and shooting tools. we have no idea what we're doing, but we're having a great time learning how to use them all. at this level and for our money i'll pick the a33 every time.
After researching SLR Cameras I decided on the A33. I got a pretty good deal it was used but in perfect condition . I like how it can be a simple Point & Shoot or a sophisticated Digital SLR. I have had it for a few weeks and took it on vacation to try it out and love it . Would I buy another YES .I wanted to move up from the little point and shoots to get better pictures and for me it is perfect. Here is a video of some of the pictures I took with it they untouched meaning no color rendering of fix's they are raw just as I took them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7tPOAjg9sc&list=UU5FU5iAGu-uVtePHivIghFA&index=1&feature=plcp
This is my first DSLR camera and I love it. It is very easy to use and the people at Big Easy Camera were a delight. They helped me to understand what I needed and really gave me a great insight into what I would need which wasn't much when you consider everything that was included with it. I have only had it for a week and I'm still playing with it but so far I am very impressed. Thank You Sony for a great product and thank you Big Easy Cameras for your wonderful service.
I really love this camera, quick focus, 7 shoots per second, is fine for me. The only feature i change was free to configure for VIDEO, aperture, exposure, i like full control. The vivid colors are amazing.
