If you're looking for a shaving brush that breaks in quickly and holds together well look no farther. I have had several brushes over the years that have shed worse than my dog and was beginning to wonder if a decent brush could be attained for less than $50. I've had the Semogue 1305 for many months now and will never purchase another brand. It broke in perfectly, holds soap well and has lost almost no bristles. If you're needing quality at a great price this is it.

Like any boar brush thre is always a break in period. I have a Van Der Hen boar brush and it did not take a long break in time. It is very scritchy and rough on my legs and arms and face. Yes, I am a lady DE Wet Shaver! I have done about 4 palm lathers to further break it in after the initial cleaning and conditioning. The hooks are finally coming along and it is softening. I'll continue doing a daily palm lather to break it in until soft enough to use. That is the only reason I gave it the rating I did because it usually takes about 15 shaves to start breaking in good. With continued work on it, it will probably be a fine brush.

I've used many shaving brushes over the years. The Semogue Excelsior 1305 is as good as the best. A good boar brush will perform as well as anyone needs at a far better price than a badger brush. This Semogue has a good-sized handle that fits well in the hand. The bristles feel soft on the skin from the beginning, but they also have good spring to them. The color combination is nicely old-fashioned. In short, I recommend this brush wholeheartedly.

Just like the title suggests, it feels like you are painting your face! This brush applies the soap or cream you are using so well it just covers your face in seconds. The nice features to this brush are it's soft bristles that cause no discomfort to your face. It's handle fits perfectly into your hand and allows you to lather your face with ease. This product is worth having around and there is no arguing with the price on how well this brush performs. Something this cheap and so efficient is a must have!

Initially when I bought and tried it I wasn't really impressed. You need to spend quite a bit of time to soften the brush and it still quite firm. But about half a year ago I switched from bowl lathering to face lathering in a shower and I quickly realised how good is this boar brush! For this purposes it's much better than my favourite and expsnsive soft Muhle brush. If I'm shaving outside of the shoswer I'm stull using my Muhle brush but in a shoswer it's Semogue Excelsior 1305. It works really well with face lathering as it softens naturally under a hot shower so by the time you are start using it it's already soften and warm enough. Highly recommended if you want to shave in a shower or you are doing face lathering or both.
