Enjoy Riding Around on a Longboard

If you're looking for a fun way to get around town, check out the selection of complete longboards on eBay. These longboards for sale have great style, and there are a variety of boards available in both new and used condition.

What types of new and used longboards are there?

To meet different needs, manufacturers make many different types of affordable longboards. They include:

  • Flexible drop-through cruisers - These boards have a low center of gravity for better stability. They offer some cushion on longer rides and are fairly easy to push.
  • Traditional cruisers - This looks just like a traditional skateboard but with a longer length. They have kicktails that you can use to make quick turns or even do a few tricks.
  • Commuter cruisers - With a top mount, a commuter-style cruiser is suited for carving on the roads.
  • Drop platform - These have been designed for freeriders, and they have low platforms to boost stability.
  • Drop-through boards - These are often used by freeriders and downhill boarders, and they can be slimmer than many of their counterparts.
  • Top-mount boards - When trucks are mounted directly to the bottom of the deck, more grip is provided, especially when you're going quickly around turns. At high speeds, a premium top-mount board can perform well for technical riders.
How wheels affect a used longboard

The hardness of the wheel affects the performance of a longboard. That hardness is typically assessed with the durometer, a scale that starts in the 70s and tops out at 101a. Very hard wheels (101a) are built for professionals, as they have minimal grip in order to achieve high speeds. Soft wheels are in the 70s and 80s on the scale, and these offer a cushioning ride that you might need if you're riding over rough surfaces.

Size of the wheels is also a factor when shopping for used longboards for sale. Smaller wheels (with diameters between 50 and 54 millimeters) are quick to accelerate and travel at slower speeds; they're something that trick riders and small riders might prefer. As you move up, the speed of the wheel increases, but acceleration decreases. Average wheel sizes range from 54 - 59 millimeters.

Longboard sizes

When looking for a new or used longboard for sale, you'll see many choices. Most longboards are between 34 and 42 inches in length, making them versatile in terms of offering stability and giving you the ability to make quick maneuvers. If you want to go for speed as you travel down hills, it's recommended you go with a longer wheelbase. Shorter wheelbases are ideal for commuting, and they can have some of the cheaper longboard prices on eBay.
