The Seagate Momentus hard drive uses perpendicular recording technology which increases its ability to remain intact as well as reduces any chance of data corruption. This internal 80 GB 2.5-inch hard drive uses an external data transfer rate of 100 Mbps, which allows information to be stored and accessed safely. The Seagate Momentus improves a computer's performance by increasing the density of the data stored on the hard drive to ensure its reliable 24/7.

Perfect for older laptops
I picked this up to use as a secondary drive on my spare Dell Latitude D830 and couldn't be happier. I've always had great luck with Seagate and this plugged right into my modular bay housing as a secondary drive and was recognized without any issues. SMART results were perfect, drive is an authentic Seagate product and is surprisingly fast considering its older PATA connection. It works great as either a backup drive for the main OS (Windows 7 64-bit on my D830), or as a dual-boot hard drive.

PATA Hard Drive that is a Direct Replacement
I purchased a Seagate Momentus PATA hard drive for my mothers laptop, because the original one quit working. My mothers hard drive was an 80GB also, and the eBay ad said it was a direct replacement, which it was. I installed it very easily, and with the help of Dell, selling me the set up disks...it was easy to make the computer like new again. Thanks eBay, you've been a great help.
