Exceptional product! and performs great for the money
I purchased this product as a replacement for the damaged 40GB IDE hardisk that came with my laptop and is a cost effective solution to upgrading your current hardisk for a higher capacity to store extra MP3's and Videos ect without having to purchase an external drive freeing up the already limited USB ports on my older laptop. What I like about this product is that the drive consistantly performs well and has a fairly rapid data tranfer rate for an IDE drive compared with other drives of this type.

Excellent 160GB IDE Hard Drive
With IDE interface drives becoming rarer and rarer, it was very valuable to obtain this drive and increase the storage capacity of my old laptop which I am rebuilding to give to my daughter. The drive installed easily and the Win 7 os was loaded without problem. In operation, the drive is fast and quiet; what more do you want? Reliability will only be answered with time but as this isn't the first Samsung Spinpoint I have experience of, I can't see this being a problem

Superb performance so far very good.
Although having bought a Samsung 3.5" 250GB IDE HDD that failed early in life, I still trust the brand as generally very reliable. Using Linux and making an error during installation, had to erase & re-install, however after updating second os, grub screen locked os on restart so had to do grub recovery. I have no idea if this is the drive not fully erasing. Since then performance can only be described as excellent, fast & precise. As early days and for above experiences reserve one star for value, only time will probably prove this unfair.

Quality product for the price!
I bought this Samsung 160GB hard drive to replace the faulty and slower 20GB from my Acer Travelmate laptop, and it's much faster. As well as the greater storage capacity, it has shown to be reliable so far. If you are looking to upgrade or to replace your hard drive, the Samsung is great value for money!

Very Quiet Drive
This Hard Drive is extremely quiet, once fitted to my laptop I cannot hear it at all. I installed Windows 7 Prof with no difficulty what so ever. Its just a pity they don't make a bigger drive otherwise Fantastic......
