An amazing season to b...e sure! First off, I am a long-time fan of this show as are most of my family. We used to watch it on the Disney Channel in the 1990's. It is a spin-off of the wonderful mini-series, "Anne of Green Gables." Some of the characters from that drama are still the same in these episodes. The shows in season five deal with the younger generation beginning to grow up and make their own decisions for the future. Sara Stanley finds love, Felicity decides what she wants to become when she goes to college. Both she & Gus make choices for their possible future together, Cecily also goes through a life-changing experience. Felix tells his father he wants to be more than a farmer. Also Jasper & Olivia invest in a business, as does Miss Stacey. My favorite episodes are Modern Times, Stranger in the Night, Thursday's Child and Otherwise Engaged. Stranger in the Night stars Bruce Greenwood who helps the Kings out during tough times on their farm. Thursday's Child is focused on Cecily and her father sings a beautiful Welsh Melody entitled, "All Through The Night." This episode is very moving. Stockard Channing also stars in a two-part episode as the new minister's wife and she becomes a dear friend to Janet King. You will not be disappointed with Season Five. The shows just keep getting better & better!
I love the Road to Avonlea series. Avonlea is a spi...n-off from the Anne of Green Gables series that came out in the mid 1980’s, which is an adaptation from a book by L.M Montgomery. They did a great job on the Gables series as did the creators of Avonlea. Road to Avonlea is a wholesome and entertaining look back at days gone by. The cast of characters and their different personalities keep you interested in what happens next. Great directing and creativity. Love it!

It doesn't get much better than this. This volume has been... just as good, if not better, than all the other volumes up to this point. My children are enjoying the series so much and will watch it again and again. They are kind of growing up with the characters as they are in the same age range. Fantastic scenery, wonderful history, charming community life of a by-gone era are all part of this magnificent family series that we cannot live without.
I watched this show when it originally aired on... the Disney channel many years ago and fell in love with it. It portrays a positive image of family life. The characters are extremely likable and real. I've always wanted to visit Prince Edward's island in Canada because the scenery is beautiful and rustic. This series takes place there. This would be a welcome addition to any family dvd library collection.
Our family has enjoyed this series. We never saw ...it prior to when it was on TV. Friends of ours owned volumes 1-3 and lent them to us in December 2009. We are now hooked! We cried over #61 Thursday's Child when Cecily contracted TB. We cheered Felix on in the Great Race #56 and became agitated with Felicity when Gus left on a ship, #63. We were not totally thrilled with #64 Enter Prince Charming. Sara was wrong to deceive her Aunt Hetty and Booth was wrong to encourage Sara in her willful disobedience to her aunt.
