Some dogs nails you can't tell where the critical ends so using this and getting it close is just fine for me! It's super quiet and after a couple minutes one of our dogs started falling asleep. Use fresh batteries or else it won't do it's job properly. Make sure you put down a towel on your lap. It does make a little dust and it does smell a little weird but it's well worth the price! Cheaper than the groomer and cheeper than snagging my carpet

I originally bought it hoping to get rid of nail clippers all together, but my dog is more scared of this tham the nail clippers. (Its not loud my dog just scares easily) It works nice to hit the tips after a clip just to dull the sharp edges down. If you wanted to just use this as your grooming tool id imagine youd have to stay on it doing a little every few days because if the nails are long it would take forever.

It does what it is suppose to do. It is very quiet. Doesn't scare dogs. I like the grinder stone instead of sand paper drum. Guide windows for small nails works very well.

Well, it's true not very powerful for large dogs with thick nails. With dogs scared of Nail Clippers this did the trick. It took forever but if you keep the nails short it won't be so bad. My dogs were scared at first but didn't mind it after a min. My 14 year old Golden Retriever fell fast asleep while I did the job.
