The "new" way is to learn about the "old" way. This book is a good primer for beginning preppers - actually - its a great primer for ALL OF US! We're losing the 'old-fashion' ways to care for our food - but - this book helps us learn how to keep the old methods alive. (Your family and friends will L*O*V*E you.... after you start making the jam/jelly recipes! Yummy Yummy Yummy!)

Very informative, a good source for the changing world.
The possible loss of energy in our changing world would require us to have the knowledge to preserve food with out it. This book provides such information adaptible to several situations and locals. If you are concerned about the future this book should be in your library.
