Overall, a good movie. Not the best, but worth watching.
This was a decent movie...not too risque, yet not as exciting as it could have been. The story is basically about a young gay man who must maneuver through his life while dealing with a homophobic/prejudicial father with political aspirations...many of which are based on 'Christian' morals denouncing homosexuality. His son, however, is ready to break from the pressure of hiding his true self while pleasing his father. Pressured by his father to maintain the Conservative 'poster boy' image for his dad's campaign, he struggles to find a way to be himself and ends up with a choice to make that could affect the lives of everyone with negative repercussions on each side regardless of what he chooses to do.

Well-Told Story, Good Acting, Karen Allen Rocks.
The surprising highlight of this movie for me was Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark). The storyline was great and the motivations of the young gay characters politically pitted against one another and against a congressman was really thought-provoking and engaging, but...for me, Karen is the reason to see this film. She's brilliant in the role of a long-suffering, chain-smoking wife of a right-wing politico who really didn't know what she'd signed up for when she married him. Only the rift between her promiscuous and somewhat closeted son and her overbearing husband wakes her from her sleepy, along-for-the-ride existence. It's a great performance and it was great to see her on the screen again. The rest of the cast is very good as well, Michael Lerner providing a thoroughly believable performance as a man more concerned with his constituants than his own family. The sexy twentysomething gay characters are all outstanding as well. All in all, it's a much better, more believable gay-themed movie than what we are generally served up. It seems like it's set in the real world rather than in someone's fantasy of how the real world should be. Read full review

Interesting But a little slow
Overall the movie was a pleasant diversion, but I was a little disappointed with the production. It had a lot of promise, but didn't quite live up to the promise. I personally am not all that interested in the quasi-documentary style. The overall plot was interesting and the acting was certainly adequate. I would give it an overall 3 of 5 stars, an enjoyable time, but not a WOW.

Poster Boy (DVD, 2006)
Liked this film and it kept me somewhat interested. Still a great film to watch. Will not give any of the details away. If you read the synopsis, it pretty much says it all. Enjoy with lukewarm reception....
