*Con could not find a way to lock the shaft of the motor for installing or removing pump from motor. original motor had a removable cap at the end that a wrench could secure the shaft. makes it difficult to work on pump for seal maintenance without it. *Pro grate price *Con uses more power to run.

This pool pump motor is a perfect fit for replacing my Sta-Rite P2RA5E-124L motor. In the past I always would take my motor to a pool supply store and they would change the bearings and o-rings. The store quoted me $274.00 plus tax to do that this time around. Seeing how my motor was 25 years old, I thought it may be better to just go ahead and buy a brand new motor.... and save half the cost at the same time! I was concerned at first because I read that the housing body was smaller than the motor that I was replacing. It was no problem because included In the box was one pad that when placed on the front area of the stand made the motor the correct height and level.

I got this motor to replace a Pac-Fab (Pentair) Challenger. As pictured, the motor has a shaft with an internal thread to accept a reverse-threaded locking bolt. As shipped, however, the shaft was solid. Fortunately, the motor rotates counter-clockwise, which tightens the impeller, so the locking bolt was probably superfluous. I hope. The motor is quiet, but it does have a high-pitched buzz. It also has a smaller diameter case, but it comes with a rubber spacer that allowed me to mount it on the Pac-Fab mount. It seems to have a little more "kick" than the unit it replaces, which I considered to be a plus.

Motor arrived quickly and in new condition. Exact replacement for original motor. The life of a pool pump motor is terrible, chemicals, weather, and negligent operators, I can't believe the last one lasted for over ten years. Pump is switchable for 125/230 VAC and went in easily. After I cleaned all parts of pump and replaced all the rubber. Only complaint was they shipped the Go-Kit 6 with seals and O-rings by DHL and USPS so it came some days after the motor so I had to wait to install. Never replace a pump motor without replacing all the rubber in the pump. Just "bite-the-bullet" and take 3 or 4 hrs. to do it right. Anyway, the motor is in now and running very quietly as expected, same model and brand as before, I highly recommend this motor.
