Sometimes, you're just in the mood for a good action movie. ...That is the definition of Out for Justice. The movie is not very big on plot, although it does offer some in-sight on different back-stories, characters' pasts and several other things. We do get to know some characters pretty well, but others not so much. Steven Seagal stars as the protagonist Gino Felino, the tough, ass-kicking cop who does things his own violent way but still has a soft side evident. William Forsythe stars as the antagonist Richie Madano, the drug using, dirty, evil, sniveling, careless wise-guy who's violent night-long/citywide rampage has Gino chasing him all over town. There are a lot of great action scenes, and plenty of fight scenes by Steven Seagal for those who are into pure action. I usually like movies with a good story, but once in a while I like to kick back with a good, senseless action movie. So if you're into movies that favor action over plot: This is definitely one for you.
Probably one of the better Steven Seagal movies ...in which Gino Felino's (Seagal), best friend and partner Bobby Lupo is shot down in cold blood infront of his wife and children, by life long acquaintance Richie Madano. Gino, Bobby, and Richie all grew up together, but Richie just went bad. Knowing that Gino is coming after him for killing Bobby, he goes crazy. Along with several of his crew, and stoned full of cocaine he kills a woman motorist just for blowing her horn at him. He knows that his time is limited and decides to go out like a flash, one last night, one last party. Gino's old friend and local mob member Joey and his associates are after Richie too. Sort of like the Brooklyn local Italian police force they are out to get him for what he has done to Bobby's family. Meanwhile Geno is terrorizing all of Richie's haunts, and several fights with thugs along with some of the broken bones, adds to the chase. Geno finds out from Richie's sister the name and address of Richie's girlfriend. Thinking that he may be hiding there, Geno goes to see her, but finds her murdered. It seems that Bobby's wife found out that he was cheating on her and was screwing Richie's girlfriend. She told Richie, but didn't think that Richie would kill him. Geno finally catches up with Richie and of course Geno kicks his ass and kills him. Lots of action, but poor storyline. A lot of police "vigilantism" is obvious here. Right after Geno kills Richie, his Mafia friends show up. Geno takes Joey's gun and shoots Richie with it then gives it back to Joey and suggests that Richie be left in a car trunk in Queens. Joey's chance to be a big man with his boss.
This is one of Steven Seagal's best movies. It... has action and suspense and lots of what Steven Seagal is known best for. He definitely beats up a lot of people in this movie.
