Nightmare of a game.
This game sat on my shelf for two years before I decided to play it. I should have left it on the shelf. The game has no rewarding aspect at all. This game is a direct port of the PS1 version. No graphical improvements to show the Dreamcast's strengths. You play as Wallace and wield an axe. Your goal is to thwart the evil Crowley's master plan and save your companion Rachael. The story is severely lacking information regarding Rachael and contains huge plot holes. Having Wallace speak a few lines before each Level is NOT ENOUGH. The ending was extremely disappointing and I felt as though I accomplished nothing. Almost as if the developers forgot to include a final 10th level. The levels are poorly designed and the lighting will create frustration. Make sure your television has brightness set to maximum or the game is unplayable. You will kill zombies, find keys, open doors, beat the boss (if the level has one) and repeat. No puzzles or challenges! I experienced 3 major glitches which cost me a continue each (and you only get 5 continues). These involved getting stuck in walls and falling through visible floors. The combat system is glitchy and annoying. There were many times where I walked up to an enemy and the auto-lock combat did not activate. There are only two good combo moves. Play Therapy mode for a couple minutes and you will know them. Once you know the moves you will hack, block, hack, block and hack some more through 9 Levels. The only major challenge is to see if you can force yourself to complete a very bad game.Read full review
Nightmare Creatures is an "good" game, it has decent graphics and has some decent puzzles but the fact that he really only uses an axe throughout the game is a bit boring. You do stumble upon some other very cool weapons but they are used once each and then they're gone. I was excited to try this game with a game shark so that I could have unlimited ammo but even that didn't allow unlimited ammo, just unlimited continues....Oh well. If you have a few hours to spare, check it out. The combination attacks are cool, although there are only 2 different combos.
Chop Chop, Swing Swing...Grab your Ax!
Certainly one of the best Dreamcast games ever! Wicked sweet main character who kills with an ax! Who can beat that?
Nightmare Creatures 2
I decided to buy this game because i have a lack of games for dreamcast. This game was pretty good graphics were ok for that era and the levels were fun soundtrack was good.
